Broad Reach ran sailing trips and lessons out of the island’s harbors aboard a classic day-sailer.

Update for 2026: Broad Reach has relocated to Maine and now sails from Kennebunkport and Portland; it no longer operates on Martha's Vineyard. We are keeping this post up as a record of a great island operator. For charters sailing this season, see our sailing guide.

Broad Reach Adventures runs classic sailing trips around Martha’s Vineyard on a traditional sailboat. The format is simple: get out on the water, put the sails up, and watch the harbors and coastline go by.

From the deck you get a long, slow look at the shoreline, the coves, and the harbor towns, a side of the island you can’t see from land. You don’t need any sailing experience; the crew handles the boat while you sightsee, take photos, or do nothing at all.

Routes typically pass Edgartown Harbor, Oak Bluffs, Menemsha, and other familiar spots around the island. You can bring your own food and drinks. Trips are run for small groups, so it stays quiet on board, closer to sailing with a friend than a packed tour boat.
