Accessibility Statement

At MV Vacation, we want everyone to be able to use this site to learn about Martha's Vineyard, including people with disabilities, on whatever device they have. We keep working to make that easier.

Accessibility standards

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level, and we test new pages before they go live. These guidelines are set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and are the international standard for web accessibility. We also watch Google's Core Web Vitals to keep pages fast and stable on phones and computers.

What we do

• Checking the site with automated accessibility tools and by hand, and fixing the barriers we find.

• Writing alternative text for our photos and other meaningful images.

• Keeping text and buttons in readable color contrast.

• Making menus, forms and tools work from a keyboard.

• Using clear headings so screen readers can move through a page.

• Turning on captions for our videos where they are available.

• Avoiding content that flashes or blinks.

• Keeping navigation the same from page to page.

Known limitations

Some parts of the site come from other companies or are hard to make fully accessible, and may not meet WCAG 2.1 AA at all times: ad units from our advertising partner, embedded YouTube videos, the WVVY radio player, our interactive maps, and live images from third-party webcams. Where we can, we put the key details in plain text on the page as well. If one of these gets in your way, tell us and we will look for another way to give you the same information.

Assistive technology compatibility

We build the site to work with common screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver, and with browser zoom and contrast settings. We check pages at both phone and desktop sizes.

We aim to respond within 5 business days and will work in good faith to resolve any reported issue as quickly as possible. If you need the content of a specific page in an alternative format, let us know and we will do our best to provide it.
