The harbor at dusk from the town beach, the moorings full and the sky doing the work.

An evening walk at Vineyard Haven Beach on Martha's Vineyard: pink and purple skies after sunset over calm harbor water.

Vineyard Haven Beach Evening Walk

This video is an evening walk along the beach at Vineyard Haven Harbor, filmed just after sunset while the sky was still pink and purple. We follow the shoreline as the light fades, with the harbor water flat and quiet beside us: a slow, uneventful walk, which is the point.

Vineyard Haven Harbor at Dusk

Dusk is one of the calmest times at this harbor. The beach empties out, the water goes still, and it picks up whatever color the sky is doing. If you're staying in Vineyard Haven, an after-dinner walk here costs nothing and is worth the detour; if you're watching from home, this video gets you most of the way there.

Island tip of the dayInsiderNo. 84 of 86New tip at midnight, island time

A 502-foot breach opened at Norton Point on January 1, 2026, cutting the sand link between Katama and Chappaquiddick: the Chappy Ferry is once again the only way across, likely for years. OSV drivers should check current beach access with the town of Edgartown.
