Nor'easter week on the water. The National Weather Service has a Gale Warning on Vineyard Sound and Nantucket Sound from Wednesday morning through Thursday evening, and the forecast holds northeast winds of 22 to 28 mph with gusts near 40 mph into Saturday, with rain likely Friday and Saturday.
The Steamship Authority says Woods Hole sailings may be canceled, with Oak Bluffs service the most likely to be cut, and is waiving change and cancellation fees for travel on Thursday, September 24 and Friday, September 25. If you are coming or going this week, check the Steamship site before you leave for the boat, and give yourself an extra day if the trip cannot move.
